Studio Policy
Tuition
Payment is on a tuition basis. Tuition covers all services for one month at a time. This includes scheduled lessons, make up lessons, performance/group classes, recitals and extra lesson time needed for recitals or other events.
Tuition is due upon the first lesson of the month in full. Lessons cannot be taught without payment.
Cancellations
Cancellations of a lesson must be 24 hours or more prior notice. If 24 hours is given for a cancellation, I will go out of my way to make up the lesson. I want to see my students' progress! Take care of me and I will take care of you.
Practice
Students are expected to practice 5 days a week. They are to accomplish the tasks given in their notebook and spend the amount of time working the tasks as they spend during their lesson. If lesson time is 45 minutes then practice time should be 45 minutes minimum.
I can't be at the student's house the other 6 days a week when students are not at lessons. It is very important that parents oversee practice ensuring that the tasks given, which are reviewed during practice, are completed. This sets the standard of expectations and success at the piano.
Musical Instrument
I'm being hired to help you or your young one become a well rounded pianist. To do this a quality instrument is necessary for development of the hands and ears. A poor quality instrument will hinder learning; when a student who has practiced for hours on a keyboard learning that Bach Prelude, they will not be able to play it on a piano because the hands are not accustomed or acclimated to the movement of the keys of a real piano. Piano action is extremly complex. The hands need to become familiar with a quality piano.
When buying a quality instrument please ask me or a registered piano tuner. We can guide you to great instrument that you can enjoy and afford!
Recitals
Again I'm being hired to help your young one become a well rounded pianist. Part of this process is getting in front of others and playing. Two recitals are held every year. All school aged students are required to perform.
Group/Performance Classes
